Department at a Sydney hospital
Set up the first Aboriginal
Medical Service
Discovered
that almost all Aboriginal people in outback communities had eye diseases
1970- Helped launch
a national program to attack eye disease in Aboriginal Australians
1970-1973 Treated 30,000 people, performed a
thousand operations and prescribed more than 10,000 pairs of glasses
1980- Travelled
all over the world to help set up eye health programs in developing countries
Helped in fund
raising to support Eritreans build their own eye lens factory
1989- Stared sick for cancer
1993- Died
